Preparing for the future requires a S.T.E.A.M. FOCUS

We are a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math focused community education center that offers academic enrichment and academic support to our community.

In a technology based economy, it has never been as important as it is today for citizens young and old to develop skills necessary for the future. This mean preparing for jobs and an economy that does not yet exist.

We support parents, education and the business community with programs that add value to learning and skill development.

Increasing opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) deepens knowledge and broadens our understanding of the world, community  and self.

Different Students
Require Different
Approaches to Learning

It is our philosophy to reach students where they are and then build upon that foundation. We believe that "if kids can't learn the way we teach, we should teach the way they learn" and offer different methods of learning: experiential learning, project based learning, game based learning and one-to-one interaction. We will also be offering virtual reality educational simulations and field trips in the near future.

Our new paradigm learning environment in addition to our unique programming activities and classes help students boost their 21st century skills and prepare them for the future.

By introducing complex concepts in a fun and engaging way, students are less apprehensive and not afraid to fail or be wrong. They keep trying!

Building a better community for us all

All parents want the best for their children and Immersive Learning Center brings them the best STEAM resources. No institution can be a one stop shop for all students. Be it a traditional school environment, charter, private or home school, having quality educational resources benefits all learners and communities.

Collaborating with our community partners is central to  achieving our mission. We plan to work with city and county agencies in supporting their ability to communicate more effectively with educational leaders, students, parents and other related stakeholders.

Businesses will be able to showcase their services and leverage our skills development program as well as our community outreach to connect with student job seekers and ready them for employment.

Struggling communities will find that access to our quality academic support and enrichment services will help attract prospective new citizens and businesses.

Please join us in building a better a community by volunteering, donating and sharing your ideas, experiences and concerns about schools, learning and skills development. Together we can improve student outcomes and prepare them for careers in a rapidly changing technology based economy.

A community prepared for the future is a community that has a future.

ILC ROBOTICS

We have chosen Makeblock's mBot as our platform. The mBot is a great tool for beginners to learn graphical programming, electronics and robotics. This educational robot kit gives beginners hands-on experience and is an all-in-one solution for robotics learning that is designed for STEM education.

The mBot uses a free modified version of Scratch 2.0 developed by MIT Lab that enables users to read sensors, control motors and the whole robot with ease.

The mBot also uses Arduino Programming (C language) which is an open source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software.

ILC likes mBot because it:

* is affordable compared to other       platforms

* has 2 programming tools

* is compatible with Lego parts

* has electronics based on an open

   source platform

* has numerous accessories

   available
